Wonderful oil on board of a sailboat or fishing boat romantically named ‘Le Retour’ (The Return) on a blue sea. Signed Rachot, 1970. On the back of the piece is written the name of the boat by the artist in pencil.
The painting is in beautiful blues and whites which evoke a calm day in morning light with the reflection of the boat captured in the water. There are other boats visible in the painting, one in the foreground alongside Le Retour and several others picked out in the background, so one is able to get a sense of the distance of the horizon.
The frame is of a solid wooden construction, created in three tiers and covered in an artistically worn silver-coloured leaf which catches the light.
