These are a pendant pair of original limited-edition etching by the Belgian artist Leon Smeets.

Smeets was a Mechelen-born Belgian painter, print maker and graphic artist based in Antwerp. A former rower and sailor he spcialised in maritime subjects. His etchings are known for their clean graphic line work and impressive linear compositions.

Here we offer two of his works as a pair:

The first is in portrait composition of fishing boats at a dock with reflections in the water, signed by the artist and is number 44/50. H34cm W30cm

The second continues with the maritime theme, focusing on trawlers anchored on calm waters, with delicate cross hatching to render the reflections and shadows. It is also signed and number 17/100. H29cm W32cm

The pair have been beautifully mounted and framed simply in wood behind glass and are a very attractive as a two.
